Before Midnight…

clock - before midnight
It’s 10:07 pm as I sit down to write this and that only matters because I have to get this written and posted before the clock strikes 12 (if I had a clock that struck instead of just gently plopping over, that is).
Why? Well, since you asked, see that little calendar in the sidebar? For every day I post something that day is blocked off with a little red box. This month I want to fill every box, writing something daily (just putting up an image with a line of text doesn’t count) – even if what I write is complete nonsense (as this is likely to be).
I should, of course, have written something first thing this morning as I know that by the end of the day I’m tired and headachey and just don’t feel like doing much besides sitting down with a book or vegging out in front of the TV. However, I couldn’t get my fingers or brain to cooperate earlier, so, here we are.
Also, I am a champion procrastinator. I’m going to work on that. One of these days.
Now that I’m here, though, I might as well natter on.
I now have twenty-nine posts in draft. That’s just sad. You know what I think it is, though… once I get the bare bones of something written, it’s finally out of my head (for a time, anyway) and it seems… well, I’ve written it. Of course, it’s not done, even the thoughts are incomplete, often just a line or two so that I don’t lose them. And that, I see, is a mistake for me. I should just write the thing through, changing a word or two here and there maybe in edit, but just get it out there. It won’t be good writing, but as that takes lots of practice it’s better to just do it.
I notice that Obama is co-opting Reagangod (at least I think that is what he is doing), which I think is a brilliant strategy. If that is indeed it.
I confess to a certain fondness – okay, well maybe that’s too strong a word, but you know what I mean – for FDL as it was because of their racist implosions that I found the wonderful women of the woc and rwoc blogosphere. There is a lot I’d go through just to have that honor.
I have discovered that there is an itty bitty library tucked away beside a medical building down the street from me which is primarily for the elderly and their caregivers. What a find! Their hours are pretty limited so I’ve not been able to go yet, but I plan to this Saturday. I don’t usually go to libraries because without a vehicle it’s just a hassle getting the books back in, plus I hate giving books back anyway. I doubt they have much of a selection but I believe you can get books sent in from the big library downtown or wherever.
Remember when you could just drop books in any mailbox, to return? At least in LA you could, dunno about the rest of the state or the country. You might still be able to, but just try and find a mailbox nowadays.
There is actually one in the mall here, though – one of the big, old fashioned ones. I handed my granddaughter a letter to put in it the other day, but she’d never seen a mailbox before and had no clue how to work it. There were no buttons to push! although she did look and look for them. Someone standing nearby helped her, showing her how to pull the little (almost hidden) handle down and drop the mail in. Me, I was on my way to do that but I had to stop laughing first.
