   I think it’s entirely within the realm of possibility that you can think Rahm Emanuel is unprincipled without being an anti-Semite. Just as you can think the actions of the Likud party can be abhorrent without being anti-Semitic.

   Doc!!! Excellent to see you I was just thinking about tracking you down, the other day. How have you been? I am blogging, yes, but not where I’m supposed to be, unfortunately. I keep thinking I will, but, so far…

   Anyway, what have you been up to? Florida is, I’m glad to say, still providing much political entertainment, I see.

   And yes, one can certainly think all manner of things about bad Emmanuel (and many do, with reason!) without being an anti-Semite

   The late George Carlin once said “When you’re born, you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front row seat.”

   And when you’re born in Florida, you get a backstage pass.

   The somewhat less loathsome Charlie Crist is being trounced by the horrifying Marco Rubio, as the teabagging movement is thriving in Florida, for reasons I think are obvious.

   Eric Massa seems to have some issues, but what’s really disconcerting to me, at least, is the glee which some “progressive” media personalities are taking in gay-bashing him. And now Markos Moulitsas is challenging Dennis Kucinich’s credibility on health care. Kucinich was advocating national health care when Kos was still a republican. I think this lends credibility to Massa’s statements about Emanuel, as Emanuel traditionally has attacked liberals and appeased DLC types like Lieberman and Ben Nelson. If the health care “reform” bill passes, it won’t offer much, if anything, in terms of real help for American citizens, but it will be a nice political trophy for the 2012 race. Which is the entire point, I think.

   You could never sully my blog, Doc! Well, maybe if you dragged in some Aristocrats, but otherwise… anyway, I don’t mind politics, I just don’t much like writing about them.

   I haven’t followed the Massa story much, beyond the headlines – I didn’t know people were gay-bashing him. What, because of the sexual harassment or whatever charges? That needs to be stopped in its tracks, that’s for sure. It’s the harassment that’s the problem – as it is with people of any orientation that do that, not who he harassed.

   I don’t read Markos much… I think the health bill is about as good as we are going to get, right now, for any number of reasons. It will, it seems, do a lot of good to some, especially people with pre-existing conditions and all that, or those in danger of losing their coverage, but won’t go nearly far enough in other areas. I’m okay with first steps, though. I think, possibly, it could have been a more comprehensive bill if all that time in the beginning hadn’t been wasted, with the committees and all that. But then again, more skittish senators may have dug in their heels and bawled that things were going too fast, or something.

   Anyway, at this point I’m in the “pass the bill, then fix it” camp, ’cause that seems to be how big things like this wind up working out. Even if sometimes the “fixing” is ongoing for years.

   What are you up to now? Blogging? Chat? Twitter?? I mostly just blog now, when I have time, but I miss everyone lots so I will have to find out where most of everyone hangs out.
