This morning, though, while I was concentrating on work – any work – to avoid major irritants in my life, ideas began to stroll through my mind, so far politely refraining from the mad, tumbled rush that is their normal behavior. Nothing earth shattering – thank the gods or geniuses or whatever – but at least something I can – just maybe – build on.

By writing about it here I thought I’d just go ahead and embrace the jinx – because “no, no, you’ll jinx it!” is the thought that ran through my head at the thought of saying/writing anything out loud about it. Not writing about it hasn’t helped much, and besides – if I can have stranger black cats – different ones -  hanging out on my patio no matter where I live, and think of Friday the 13th as my lucky day, I might as well embrace the jinx, too. 

No writing genius/muse has made an appearance, though, so actually crafting posts about the idea that make sense, instead of just galuph along like this one does, will have to wait till another time – though I will say that the first thing I know I need to do is change the name of the site from Human Beams.

Darn. I was going to start with the Train-ee tutorials, but then I read this paragraph:

Who Is This Series For?
This series was written for someone who is already familiar with building web sites using (X)HTML and CSS, and is just new to ExpressionEngine. If you aren’t comfortable editing CSS selectors, using div tags, or don’t know how to use the W3C CSS and (X)HTML validators then this tutorial series may not be for you.  A good share of the issues I’ve worked through with people using this series are straight HTML or CSS related – missing div tags, extra spaces in CSS files, etc. The more comfortable and experienced you are at solving those problems, the easier it will be to make the jump to ExpressionEngine.

So, that leaves me out! The temptation is just to start with it anyway as I do know some stuff – but the whole point of this project is not to be quite so impulsive and wind up doing things in a haphazard manner. So, off to look for some CSS tutorials, first of all.

While I still love the wdvl site, I don’t think it quite suits my needs as far as learning CSS. A quick Google search brings up many free tutorials to choose from – I spent far too much time just looking through them (avoidance, maybe?) but in the end I had to choose one and because it’s written in easy to understand language (but really they all are – maybe I just like the site), I have chosen HTMLdog as my CSS tutor for the time being.

Already I learned something new – about “in-line styles”! Maybe, we’ll see if this works. It does! W00t!

But that’s enough red. And enough for tonight. Need to get an early start in the morning and tackle the next step when my brain is fresh instead of fried.
